I believe that consumers have rights not to be misled or falsely deceived for products and services. Consumers have rights to receive services as it is presented to them. They don't deserve to be lied to or to be tricked into something else. For example, consumers don't deserve to be told by a fruit seller that he sells the best produce with guarantees in good condition, and yet consumers realize that they're rotten after purchase. Should a thing like this happen, consumers must ask the seller for replacement or refund. However if he or she refuses to do so, they can file their complaints to the TTPM. (The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism)
Secondly, consumers have rights not to receive any product or service that do not comply with the safety standards. In fact, any product that is not safe to use, or has not passed a safety test must not be even allowed to appear in any advertisement whatsoever. This is because if the product or service doesn't comply to the safety standards, anyone who receives them can be hurt seriously, can be sent to hospital, or even be dead.
Consumers have their own responsibilities as well to make sure their rights are not violated. A consumer has to understand product warrantees, guarantees, origin, storage, expiry date, and method of use prior to making a purchase. A consumer must also request a receipt from a seller or service provider and make sure that the details on the receipt are correct. Receipts are to be kept for your records and also as proof of purchase, so that no seller can try to deceive you into thinking you have not paid the money, which you have. Lastly, for products with an extended lifespan, make sure that you understand the details of the after-sales services and warrantees.
